Books featuring Bruce Dickinson

We have chosen to omit books on Iron Maiden as they would make up a disproportionate amount of the material on this page

Tears of the Dragon (2001)

The first book exclusively dedicated to Bruce Dickinson and his music was called "Tears of the dragon", written and compiled by Shervin Siami and Amir Reza Noorizadeh. 3 000 copies were published in Iran in late 2001 (1381 of according to the Persian Calendar) by Afkar and features a Bruce biography and Bruce's lyrics, all in Farsi.

The book was very popular and all 3 000 copies sold out. A second run of 5 000 copies was planned two years after its' initial release but the book was unfortunately banned by the regime making it near impossible to obtain.

Here is author Shervin Siami's own words on how the book came about:

After years of being a huge Iron Maiden fan, I finally decided to write a book about them in farsi. I did it after the release of "Virtual XI" and gave it the name "Piece of Mind". Unfortunately, I didn't know a thing about publishing and I happened to turn to some shady guys and the result was crap! They had changed everything, made incorrect translations and made a shit cover! It was not my book, they just abused my name!

It broke my heart. A friend of mine, Amir Reza Noorizadeh, found another publisher and suggested I work on a different book as I couldn't work on the Maiden-book because of the contract. So I decided to write a book about Bruce Dickinson. Amir Reza was a good colleague and I enjoyed working on new book. It featured a short Bruce biography and a translation of his lyrics into farsi. I also translated the lyrics to Maiden's "Brave new world" and added them to the book.

The result was ok and people liked the book. Unfortunately the government made the book illegal after two years, as they have a strong policy against metal music. Nowadays I'm trying to publish second book on Bruce and Iron Maiden. I just need to have your positive wishes.

Bruce Dickinson Insights: An Interpretation of His Solo Albums (2015)

"Bruce Dickinson Insights" takes a close look at Bruce lyrics covering the albums he has released as a solo artist. The analyses shed a different light to many of the words and reveal interpretations not immediately apparent to the casual listener.

The author goes into depth on the various references given in the lyrics spanning from literature classics and occultism to 60's british television and aviation. The book is arranged by album and the lyrics are discussed with regards to their themes rather than being presented in the album running order.

Brigitte Schön studied romance literature and linguistics at Heidelberg University. She got the idea to write this book after a friend of hers had asked her to translate and interpret the words to "Chemical Wedding". The lyrics intrigued her to dig deeper into Bruce's lyrics and resulted in this book.

"Bruce Dickinson Insights" is a great addition to the ever growing collection of Iron Maiden related literature.
